Promoting the study of Richard Wagner's music, and fostering a greater understanding and appreciation of his works.

Wagner Society of Cincinnati’s first Wagner Musicale, an “All Hallow’s Eve Musicale” held on Halloween, was a compete triumph! The 1800s parlor musicale was reborn at the home of Trudie and Kurt Seybold. The artists who performed were amazing, delighting the 40 guests in attendance with singing, piano solos, and poetry reading.

Many thanks to our performers—Metropolitan Opera Sopranos, Alma-Jean Smith and Blythe Walker; Bass, Samuel Smith; and Pianist, Albert Muehlboeck—who performed works by:

• Liszt
• Meyerbeer
• R. Strauss
• Gounod
• Boito
• And others, as well as a spoken word presentation suitable to the season presented by WSC President and Founder, Jim Slouffman

Long live music!

At our next meeting at 2:00pm on Sunday, September 26,WSC President Jim Slouffman will present Das Rheingold: The Theft of Light in preparation for the Met Live in HD performance on October 9th. The meeting  will be held at the German Heritage Museum, 4764 West Fork Road, Cincinnati, Ohio.

As a proud German American Citizens League member society, the Wagner Society of Cincinnati participates in local cultural events. Here we are in yesterday’s Oktoberfest Zinzinnati parade.

Wagner Society of Cincinnati members joined the September 16th Munich Sister City Association celebrations at the Hofbräuhaus Newport. WSC members, as well as members of other German American Citizen League (GACL) societies, joined for a parade inside the Hofbräuhaus and enjoyed dinner while listening to the band from Bavaria, Musikkapelle Ebenhofen.

Members debuted the Wagner Society of Cincinnati banner at Germania Society’s Oktoberfest parade yesterday. We think the Master would have been proud.
